SIAC Membership History
Dec. 1934: Representatives from ten area schools form the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference. Founding members are Bicknell, Bloomington, Bosse, Central, Linton, New Albany, Princeton, Reitz, Sullivan and Vincennes.
1936: Washington Hatchets added as eleventh member.
1939: Linton Miners suspended from league.
1940: Boonville Pioneers and Jasper Wildcats admitted.
Sep. 30, 1941: Huntingburg Hunters admitted.
Nov. 25, 1941: Bedford Miners admitted and Linton Miners re-admitted
1947: Memorial Tigers admitted after IHSAA began allowing private schools to join.
1950: Linton Miners permanently withdrew.
1953: Tell City Marksmen admitted; Jasper adds football to athletic program.
Sep. 29, 1953: Mater Dei Wildcats admitted.
Nov. 12, 1957: North Huskies admitted.
1959: Mount Vernon Wildcats admitted.
1961: Sullivan Golden Arrows withdrew; Rex Mundi Monarchs admitted.
1963: Bloomington Panthers withdrew; Harrison Warriors admitted. Bicknell Miners consolidated into North Knox Warriors.
1964: Castle Knights admitted.
1968: Boonville, Castle, Jasper, Mount Vernon, Princeton and Tell City had withdrawn from the SIAC, to be effective on July 1, 1970, but reconsidered and asked to be let back in.
1969: Huntingburg Hunters withdrew.
1971: Rex Mundi Monarches withdrew; The two new Terre Haute schools, the North Patriots and South Braves, admitted.
1973: North Knox Warriors withdrew.
1974: Bedford Stonecutters consolidated into Bedford North Lawrence Stars.
1975: Bedford North Lawrence Stars withdrew.
1977: New Albany Bulldogs withdrew.
1979: Boonville Pioneers, Jasper Wildcats, Mount Vernon Wildcats, Princeton Tigers, Terre Haute North Patriots, Vincennes Lincoln Alices and Washington Hatchets withdrew.
1981: Terre Haute South Braves withdrew, the most recent change in membership.
